About character trait names

Single adjectives land here without ornament, swinging from virtues like "Disciplined" to liabilities such as "Immodest" or "Weak-Willed". Pair one flaw with one strength when building a cast so no figure reads as purely heroic or purely rotten. A flaw works hardest when it contradicts the role the character plays in public.

How character trait names are built

This is a two-list single-word picker: it returns one trait from either a 143-entry positive pool or a 203-entry negative pool, and the chosen word stands alone. Positive pulls give qualities like "Creative" or "Disciplined"; negative pulls give faults like "Immodest" or "Weak-Willed".

Naming notes

It is a one-word descriptor for fleshing out a character sheet rather than a name or sentence. The split into separate banks lets you bias a character: draw only from the positive pool for a hero's strengths, only from the negative pool for flaws, or mix both for a rounded personality. Compound traits keep their hyphen (Weak-Willed), and every entry is capitalised so it reads as a label.

Questions about character trait names

Why do some traits sound flattering and others critical?
There are two banks: a 143-entry positive pool gives words like Creative and Focused, while a 203-entry negative pool gives faults like Immodest and Weak-Willed.
Can I get only strengths or only flaws?
Yes, because the positive and negative traits live in separate lists, you can bias a pull toward the positive pool for virtues or the negative pool for vices.
Is each output one word?
Almost always; entries are single capitalised labels, with hyphenated compounds like Weak-Willed counted as one trait.
