About law names
Jurisdiction, crime, and consequence lock together in each result, from a national ban on "travelling back in time to alter the future for personal gain" down to "a stern warning" for paying workers in anything but money. The punishments range from paddling to lifelong exile, a fast way to signal how harsh a region is. Post one law on a town gate and players will test it.
How law names are built
This is not a name generator but a statute builder, and it runs on a single template: a crime, a jurisdiction and a punishment slotted into "Anyone convicted of ... under ... statute is sentenced to ...". The jurisdiction slot has 9 scopes from parish to cross-border, the crime slot is the large bank at 210 offenses, and the punishment slot holds 38 consequences. One pull locks jurisdiction, crime, and consequence into one finished law. Bank outputs include "Anyone convicted of rustling another's livestock under frontier statute is sentenced to a sharp formal warning." and "Anyone convicted of counterfeiting the seals of the state under county statute is sentenced to a mark seared into the skin."
Anyone convicted of rustling another's livestock under frontier statute is sentenced to a sharp formal warning.

Naming notes
Because the crime bank is by far the largest (210 entries), the variety lives in what is outlawed, while the 9 jurisdictions and 38 punishments set scale and severity. Punishments range from a recorded warning or a public shaming up to branding, banishment and bonded service, so the same crime can read as petty or brutal depending on the roll. Post one law on a town gate and players will test it, or roll several to signal at a glance how harsh a region's legal code is.
Questions about law names
- Does this generate law names or descriptions?
- Descriptions. Each pull returns a complete statute sentence binding a crime, a jurisdiction, and a punishment, not a short title.
- How varied are the crimes?
- Very. The crime bank holds 210 offenses, from rustling another's livestock to sheltering an enemy of the realm, so the outlawed act is where most of the variety sits.
- How do I use these in a game?
- Post one on a town gate or read it as a local ordinance, then let players probe it. Rolling a few quickly shows whether a region punishes with a sharp formal warning or with bonded service.
